Coughs, congestion, and sneezes don't keep my little man from smiling and cooing. I do feel quite bad for him, though. This cold has gone on long enough. At his doctor appointment on the 7th, he was congested and the doctor said not to worry - it would clear up. The days went by and he wasn't getting any better. Finally, on Tuesday, I called them up and asked what I should do. They said to bring him back in. We went to the doctor. Jude was very hungry but in a great mood. He was flirting with the nurses with his cute little smile and "chatter". That was... until one of them put saline solution up his nose and sucked it out to get snotters for an RSV test. He didn't like her anymore. Fortunately, although Dr. B thought his cough sounded like RSV, his test came back negative. We did find out that he has an ear infection and I had to give him a breathing treatment to open up his lungs. While giving him his breathing treatment, I asked the nurse to take a photo. (She probably thought I was crazy for wanting a photo.) He was smiling at me through his mask for about 1/2 of the 5 minute treatment. Then he got mad and wanted to eat. He sounded better after the treatment so Dr. B said that as of right now, we don't have to buy a nebulizer. However, if he doesn't get better, we will probably be doing breathing treatments at home. Today, he still doesn't sound very good. Chad thinks his cough sounds more productive because the crap in his throught is loosening up. I am not convinced. If he isn't better next week, we are definitely going back to the doctorJude was born a strong boy. He was able to lift his head on day one. I guess that is what happens when you have a 9 pounder. :) Since he can hold his head up pretty consistently at this point, I decided to let him sit in the bumbo for a bit.
Jude has also been enjoying his new "gym". We put a pillow under him and watched him stare at the singing sun, coo, and kick his legs. He was a happy baby.
In other news... Julie is here and is a snuggle bug too. I think Jude likes her. :)

Who knew?
Jude had his doctor appointment last Thursday. Not only did we find out his measurements but he also got three shots! No worries... he did great. He only cried for about 5 seconds before I picked him up to sooth him. I think he was pretty glad when that nurse left the room. The "big" news was that he was a whopping 14 pounds, 2 ounces! He is 24 and 1/4 inches long with a head circumference of 18 cm. That puts his at the 95th percentile for weight, 90th percentile for height, and believe it or not - 20th percentile for head circumference! :) Who would have guessed that?
We took him shopping at the mall in his new "Bob" stroller. I love the stroller but I am not sure he is big enough for it yet. He looks so small in it! I also have been "wearing" him at home. haha! I put my carrier on and walk around the house with him. It takes us a while to get situated so I haven't tried this in public yet. I want the process to "get him on" to be a bit smoother. I tried taking photos of us and finally gave up and handed my camera to Chad.
My macro lens is my new best friend (Just kidding Val!). I enjoy playing around with it. Jude will only be my model for so long before he starts getting annoyed. I like this close up of his face. Is it just me or isn't he just ADORABLE!!!
New development! He is holding onto toys now. He holds them for a bit longer and sometimes they make it to his mouth. Of course, I put them in his hand but we are trying to work out his left arm. Okay, Chad is working out Jude's left arm. Why? He wants him to be a lefty so that he will grow up to be a MLB left handed pitcher or first baseman! You just never know...
We also bough Jude a new toy. I got an awesome deal on it too! (Everyone knows I love a good deal!) We bought this because I saw him playing on one at daycare and they said he really liked it. He is already batting at the toys hanging above him. (Or maybe he is just moving his arms and they happen to hit it - but I will go with the prior assumption). :)
In other news... ummmmm.... I don't have much else to talk about besides my little man this week. Unless you want to know (and didn't already see my FaceBook post) that I accidentally locked Rhyme in the pantry. I walked in there, got a snack and walked out. Rhyme obviously followed me in there (go figure - that is where all the food is!) and I didn't know it. When I left the pantry, I immediately closed the door and flipped off the light. I went in there a couple minutes later because I was putting Jude's bibs away from my never ending laundry pile. When I opened the door... Rhyme walked out. Poor girl! I did laugh hysterically though. Not sure Chad thought it was funny but he did crack a smile. Not sure Rhyme thought it was funny either... but she got a treat and that ALWAYS makes her happy.
Until next time...

Happy New Year!
2011 has already brought quite a few changes for our family. Chad and I both started new jobs on Monday (both with SF... just different work than what we were doing.) However, the biggest change was that I went back to work and Jude started daycare. He seems to be adjusting quite well (although he does miss me - I can see it in his eyes :). I am adjusting better now that I am getting busy with my new position at work. His daycare provider told us she loves to listen to him talk. :) I went to see him at lunch today and he was all smiles. When I picked him up after work and brought him home, he was talking and squealing and cooing until 8:30 when he finally fell asleep after his bath. He should sleep well tonight! I must say... without an ounce of bias... that he is SOOOOO CUTE! :)
Chad is excited about Jude's new attire that he got for Christmas... they like to watch football together. Especially the Eagles game.
We also recently played a scrabble game with Julie when she was down visiting. (I love scrabble!) Chad won - but just barely. :) After we played, we packed up the game and got ready to play Clue. OOPS! I forgot to take a photo of the scabble board all set up. The three of us reassembled the words we had created. It was a bit harder than I expected it to be... but it was a lot of fun. And, I got my picture!
I also received my new lenses! I got a Canon macro lens and a Tamron telephoto lens. I love the macro but not a fan of the Tamron lens. I may send it back. I played around with the macro lens quite a bit... photos below!
